Greenman - a face peering out of the leaves, the Celtic god of the
woods and a figure familiar to us all. Some say he can still be found
deep in the English woods.

In the second Oliver Family Adventure,
Greenman, Tyler, Paige and
Tommy travel to England and learn about the problem with practical
jokes, Celtic culture, alternative religions, and why the English drive on
the other side of the road all while immersed in another exciting
adventure!

The Oliver children arrive in Sutton Benger, England - a little village
with a lot of history - just in time to see a man in green get thrown off a
bridge. They soon meet Liam, their amiable host and deacon at the
village church, his niece Cerri, a spirited girl with a few stories to tell,
and encounter Edwin Bell, a mysterious man who lives in the woods.
Add the influence of Greenman, the timeless Celtic icon hanging in the
village church, and talk of magic in the woods and soon young
imaginations are running wild with fears that may, or may not, be real.

When a practical joke leads to unforeseen peril the children are forced
to face their fears. In the end they realize that understanding a person’
s beliefs is the key to seeing the things that make us the same, not the
things that make us different, and are rewarded in some unexpected
ways.

Sutton Benger - Wiltshire - UK - in a tiny church one of the great
works of western art. Said to be mediaeval though there is
some thought that the head was re-worked in Victorian times.
In any case the pedestal is far too big for the tiny one-roomed
chapel where it now can be found and surely came from
somewhere else? Or was there a wealthy patron? The
moulding at the top suggests a later re-working but could
possibly be original.
